Import Cars to Chile from Japan

Everything you need to import a used car from Japan to Chile — the age rule, shipping options, taxes and the vehicles currently available at a fixed One Price. Vehicles under 5 years old qualify — model year 2021 or newer for 2026.

Chile Import Regulations

Shipping & Logistics

  • Ports: Iquique (ZOFRI) in the north and Punta Arenas in the south are the primary entry points for used vehicles.
  • Attention: Only Free Trade Zones (Iquique, Punta Arenas).
  • Free Trade Zones: ZOFRI: Used RHD cars can ONLY be imported into domestic Free Trade Zones. These imports are exempt from customs duties and VAT.
  • Re-Export/Conversion: Vehicles brought into Iquique are usually re-exported to neighboring countries (Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru) or must be commercially converted to LHD to leave the zone.

  • Duties: Exempt from customs duties and VAT in Free Trade Zones.

Age & Import Restrictions (CRITICAL)

Mainland Ban: The import of standard used vehicles is strictly PROHIBITED for regular mainland Chile.

Yes. Every order includes Japanese export de-registration, the English export certificate, marine insurance and shipping from Japan to Chile by RORO or container. Our export team prepares the documents your customs broker needs.
Each vehicle ships with the original Japanese auction sheet, our own inspection report with photos, and the export certificate. Mileage and condition are stated as recorded at the Japanese auction.
