Everything you need to import a used car from Japan to Ghana — the age rule, shipping options, taxes and the vehicles currently available at a fixed One Price. Vehicles under 15 years old qualify — model year 2011 or newer for 2026.
Age Limit: From 1 October 2026 vehicles older than 15 years may not be imported (Ghana Standards Authority, announced 13 August 2026; the limit was 10 years before).
Inspection: Every used vehicle must be inspected in its country of origin by a GSA-approved third-party inspection body, which issues a Certificate of Conformity (CoC).
Already shipped: Vehicles shipped before 1 October 2026 are not affected by the new rules, even if they arrive in Ghana after that date (GSA, reported by Citi Newsroom and Pulse Ghana).
Please check with your local authorities for the latest vehicle age limits, homologation requirements, and emission standards before importing.
The import regulations, taxes, and age restrictions provided below are gathered from public internet sources for general guidance only. We do not bear any legal responsibility for the accuracy of this information. It is your sole responsibility to verify how to clear customs, homologate, and register the vehicle in your country. We are only responsible for shipping the vehicle to your requested port.
