Shipping & Logistics

  • Steering: RHD ONLY. Left-Hand Drive vehicles are strictly prohibited.
  • Pre-Export: Mandatory Pre-Shipment Inspection by Autoterminal Japan (ATJ) is required.

Customs & Costs

  • Customs Duty: Ranges from 10% (<=1000cc) up to 100% (>3000cc).
  • VAT: 14%. Tiered excise tax applies based on cc and age.
  • EVs: Electric vehicles are 100% exempt (0% Duty, 0% Excise, 0% VAT).

Age & Import Restrictions (CRITICAL)

Age Limits: No age limit for passenger cars (abolished in 2020; some exporters still cite 8 years, so confirm with your clearing agent). Commercial Trucks (up to 3 tons) must be under 4 years old.
