Hong Kong Import Regulations

Shipping & Logistics

Steering: Only right-hand (RHD). Left-hand drive (LHD) is strictly prohibited from being registered (except for special vehicles).
Ecology: The car must pass a strict EPD environmental test.

Customs & Costs

Clearance: A huge progressive First Registration Tax, up to 132%, is charged upon first registration.
Registration: At the Transport Department. Certificate of Roadworthiness is required.

Age & Import Restrictions (CRITICAL)

No strict age cap, but MUST comply with strict emissions (Euro 6c). Vehicles 30 years or older can apply for historic/classic vehicle exemptions from EPD.
