Shipping & Logistics

Steering: Right-Hand Drive (RHD) only. Left-Hand Drive is prohibited (exception for diplomatic missions without resale rights).
Inspection: Pre-shipment inspection is required.

Customs & Costs

Clearance: The car is cleared through customs at the Port of Honiara.
Registration: License plate registration is processed through the Inland Revenue Division and police.
Biosecurity and Export Certificate: When purchasing a vehicle for island regions, request the Original Export Certificate and a Fumigation/Disinfection Certificate (JEVIC/EWI). Customs strictly inspects vehicles for hidden rust, radiation, and biological contamination (seeds, insects).

Age & Import Restrictions (CRITICAL)

There is no formal ban (recommended under 10 years), but customs applies a higher assessed value for older cars.
