Import Cars to Tanzania from Japan

Everything you need to import a used car from Japan to Tanzania — the age rule, shipping options, taxes and the vehicles currently available at a fixed One Price. Vehicles under 8 years old qualify — model year 2018 or newer for 2026.

Tanzania Import Regulations

Shipping & Logistics

  • Steering: Only right-hand (RHD). Left-hand drive is allowed only for special equipment or transit.
  • Inspection: Technical inspection before shipment is mandatory (JEVIC/QISJ).

Customs & Costs

  • Clearance: Payment of duties to TRA (Tanzania Revenue Authority), declaration is issued.
  • Registration: Obtaining Logbook (certificate of registration) and license plates.

Age & Import Restrictions (CRITICAL)

Age Limit: There are no entry restrictions, but a huge penalty tax (Dumping Fee) is charged for cars older than 8 years. New cars are not subject to the age duty.

Yes. Every order includes Japanese export de-registration, the English export certificate, marine insurance and shipping from Japan to Tanzania by RORO or container. Our export team prepares the documents your customs broker needs.
Each vehicle ships with the original Japanese auction sheet, our own inspection report with photos, and the export certificate. Mileage and condition are stated as recorded at the Japanese auction.
