Shipping & Logistics

Ports: Jebel Ali is the primary port (Sharjah and Abu Dhabi also used).
Shipping: Fast ocean transit from Japan. RORO is typical.

Customs & Costs

Taxes: Typically 5% Customs Duty and 5% VAT on the car's value.

Age & Import Restrictions (CRITICAL)

LHD vs RHD: Only Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles can be registered for standard road use. Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles cannot obtain standard plates for daily driving.

Re-Export Hub: RHD vehicles are primarily imported as "export only" into free trade zones to be re-exported.

Age Limits: Standard imported vehicles must generally be under 10 years old (exemptions apply for classic cars 30+ years old).
